First of all, we hope you are all well and continue to be safe.
Our 2020 Season was one for the books! Through the disruption of a world-wide pandemic, we saw rinks close in March of 2020. This obviously put our program on hold, while our community (rightly so) ensured the safety and protocols should roll out to be able to re-open. In May of 2020, with tremendous collaboration with our “home” rinks, we were able to start our paused season and to get kids back on the ice. Our season was able to commence in May, and we were able to provide a fulsome program – along with tournaments – through the spring and summer of this past year.
We are proud to say that through much hard work and adherence to all CDC, Health Canada, and local health guidelines, we were one of the only programs in the Vancouver Lower Mainland to be able to provide this.
2021 Looking Ahead
As this pandemic is an always evolving and fluid situation, we will take our direction from the appropriate government agencies and abide by their recommendations. This may change the way we form our teams, and to how our upcoming season looks.
To date, and due to current restrictions, we have had to push back our typical Evaluation/ID Skates, as cross play (Health Region) hasn’t been allowed.
This year, we may need to consider forming teams through application, referrals, and tenure within the program previously. We know this isn’t ideal, but the fact of the matter is that we have typically accepted players in to our program through the referrals of our “Islanders Family”.
At this time, we would urge any interested families, or players, to apply or express their interest by filling out the Player Enquiry Form. This will add you to our emailing list to receive information as we share it. We will continue to keep you posted as the situation evolves.
Be well, everyone. We hope for an expeditious end to this uncertain time and are thinking of you all during this time.
